Commercial Analyst

7twenty Professional Search is exclusively partnering with Mutual Energy to appoint a Commercial Analyst within its Markets and Regulatory team. Mutual Energy is a mutual company, formed to acquire and operate strategically important national energy infrastructure assets for the benefit of energy consumers in Northern Ireland.

Reporting to the Head of Markets & Regulation, the Commercial Analyst will use a wide variety of analysis methodologies and best practice tools to prepare and present regular reports to management team in order to support strategic business decisions and mitigate risk. The Commercial Analyst will be responsible for researching and analysing legislation, market developments and trends, regulatory changes and commercial changes impacting the electricity and gas sector in order to provide robust, reliable and accurate recommendations to the business.


The successful candidate should demonstrate a logical and proportional approach to problem solving, excellent interpersonal skills and the following skills and experience:

  • A third level qualification in economics, finance, accounting, law or engineering or equivalent subjects.
  • Proven experience of analysing complex business environment information and appreciation of potential impacts to a business.
  • A proven track record of working and communicating in a clear and concise manner with a wide range of stakeholders.

It is also desirable to have experience working in the wholesale electricity and/or gas market(s) in GB or the island of Ireland.
